MacLearn v.0.12 March Update

3/1/2024By Tony

Only 17 days after the huge anniversary update, MacLearn is receiving yet another update, only huger and better. This is probably the BIGGEST update that's ever been dropped for any MacWeb app! From Code Labs to new looks, from new articles to tons of new features, March update is bringing so many exciting stuff for MacLearn that's gonna help your learning experience by A TON. We've basically remade the whole platform from the ground up. This update changes MacLearn so much that this article will be too long for anyone to read. So dive in if you want, or just skim through the headers. Let's go!

Table of Contents

NEW LOOKS!

We completely refreshed the layouts, styling, colors, and looks on every single one of our pages. We updated the homepage and several other tabs to create a more welcoming and modern experience on MacLearn. We also gave each article and tutorial a complete fresh new look with a darker background, lighter and bigger text, improved sidebar navigateability, and the placement of buttons and text fields. Other than these, we also updated the appearance by a ton across the entire site, to help you focus on learning, with an appealing and refreshing look, and not getting distracted by other stuff on the page πŸ–ŒοΈ!

INTRODUCING: QUIZ 2.0!

The old quizzes we had for MacLearn was terrible. The functionality, the implementation, the interface, and the questions were all outdated and barely usable. That's why we completely remade Quiz from scratch, introducing: Quiz 2.0! With this new quiz system, you can choose when to start a new quiz, go forward and backward between questions, look at the options more clearly, select your answer easily, being able to see your score, and either review or move on along the course after finishing the quiz. We added so many more features and convenience that make it easier to practice and use your skills πŸ“!

NEW FEATURE: CODE LAB!

I'm speaking from experiences here: learning to code without trying it out yourself does not make you learn anything. Sure, you can memorize what syntax does what, but without trying it out and playing around it, you don't really understand how it works. That's why we're adding a brand new feature: Code Lab, to MacLearn! It's basically a mini code editor playground built in on the page, along with the tutorial, so you can immediately try out the new skills you learned from that article! You can enter anything from the left editor and see the output in realtime on the right! This makes it so much easier to let you really understand and try out the new skills you learned πŸ§‘β€πŸ’»!

NEW FEATURE: CODE SNIPPET!

Other than the extremely powerful and useful Code Lab, we also added a new feature: Code Snippet, to MacLearn! Code Snippets provide an example of a piece of code that demonstrates how a new skill is used in that coding language. With this new feature, it's easier than ever to see the real code and try it out yourself πŸ“Ž!

NEW FEATURE: TOP BAR

Our articles and tutorials often cover a lot of stuff and the page often gets very long. With the new Top Bar always sticking on the top of a page, it has info about the page like page title, last updated date, and several buttons that we'll talk about below. With the new top bar, it's easier to see the page's related info and functionality πŸ“Š.

NEW FEATURE: SAVE!

This is definitely one of the most important new features we've ever released on MacLearn. You can now save your favorite tutorials pages to view them again in the future or as a bookmark! This makes it much more easier to review important skills or tricky topics. It also lets you continue your learning journey on the course! You can view all your saved pages in the Me tab ⭐!

NEW FEATURE: SHARE!

Another crazy feature we're dropping in this update is the new Share Page feature! Now, with a single click of a button, you can share a MacLearn article on many different social media platforms, or copy the link of the page! With this feature, you can spread the knowledge and resources on MacLearn to everyone for them to learn πŸ“¨!

NEW FEATURE: REPORT!

Encountered a bug on the page or just on MacLearn in general? Or do you just want to submit a feedback? The third feature we're releasing in this update: Report, does just that! Click on it, fill out a form, submit, and you're done ⚠️!

REWRITTEN PAGES!

Ever since the old Coding Place from well over a year ago, too much has happened. We've improved our app quality by a ton, and things have changed, too. So we basically rewrote and improved every single page in MacLearn to keep the info and resoruces up to date and quality πŸ‘!

NEW COURSE HOMEPAGE!

We're not even close to done with so many major imporvements and updates so far! We completely revamped each of our couse's homepage to keep it comprehensive, visually appealing, and useful to everyone 🏠.

NEW COURSE NAVIGATION!

Because of our improvements on MacLearn's quality, we've decided to add some new pages to our existing courses and changed the order or the articles a bit to focus on various topics and better match a learner's flow and provide them a better learning journey through the courses ✈️!

NEW TAB: ME!

To see all your saved pages, your learner's profile, and your progress on the courses, simply go to the new Me tab from the navigation bar to access all your profile's information 🏫!
