11/1/2024By Tony

This huge update is yet another big step towards MacLearn's version 1.0. With this update, we're completing all the courses, perfecting the website, bringing a huge refreshed redesign to the platform, and so much more! Here are what we changed in this crazy update:

Table of Contents

CSS ADVANCED COMPLETED!

We introduced the CSS course advanced section just last update, and we've already added all the tutorials in the CSS advanced section in this update! Now, you can fully access all the resources and lessons we've created for more advanced CSS concepts! Not only will this help you learn and understand more about CSS, it also marks the completion of the CSS course on MacLearn βœ…!

ENTIRE CSS COURSE COMPLETED!

Not only did we finish adding all the tutorials in the CSS advanced section, we also finished adding and perfecting all the quizzes and exercises in both the CSS advanced section and the CSS beginner section in this update! Now, you can practice all the skills you've learned from the course in well-designed quizzes that will boost your understanding of CSS concepts even more! This means that we've finished adding everything we planned for the CSS course, meaning that all the courses on MacLearn are now completed πŸ”₯!

REDESIGNED & REFRESHED

Since MacLearn is our oldest app, its styling, design, and UI were very outdated and chaotic, so with the recent release of MacWeb Site Material 5.0, we've decided to use this opportunity to compltely redesign the looks and layouts of MacLearn from the ground up using MacWeb Site Material 5.0. We made it so that the platform looks more consitent from page to page, more modern, and focuses your attention on the important information. We also made the user experience more intuitive and easier to navigate. From now on, you can enjoy an easier, more modern, organized, appealing, useful, and intuitive experience when using MacLearn πŸ–ŠοΈ! (Note that this is a very huge change on MacLearn, so it's still a work in progress, but most of MacLearn already has the new design applied)

CODE LABS 2.0

The old interactive playground, Code Labs 1.0, featured a code editor on the left, and an output window on the right. Sure, it worked fine, but it's not good enough for MacLearn. Today, we're introducing Code Labs 2.0 that features tabs for different editors and the output window! Every interactive Code Lab now has 4 different tabs that you can switch from: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Output. You can switch between different languages' editors in no time. We made this change so there's a lot more space to work with, when coding or when viewing the output, instead of the old cramped space that's divided in half. You also get to see and modify different languages' codes, instead of only one language. Other than this, we also enhanced the overall experience and updated some Code Labs' content πŸ§ͺ!

CONTENT UPDATES

In this huge update, we also updated a lot of tutorials' content and information to keep them up to date and useful when learning about web development. We optimized the code behind every single tutorial on the platform for them to load faster, more readable, and more organized with all that information. This update makes your experience on MacLearn more seamless than ever 🏫!

CONTENT IMPROVEMENTS

Other than all the huge changes listed above, we also fixed and improved a lot of aspects about MacLearn. Because of the new design system and UI, we've moved the Me tab to the profile icon on the top right corner or the screen. We also revamped the CSS course homepage because of all the exciting new tutorials and quizzes. And, you can now save CSS tutorials to the Me tab, too. We made all these changes to help make your experience on MacLearn easier, more intuitive, and seamless πŸ’ͺ.

NEW UPDATE SCHEDULE

Just like the new update schedule we're applying to other MacWeb apps, MacLearn is also getting a new update schedule. From this update forward, MacLearn is going to get an update every 3 months. This means we'll release a new update for MacLearn each quarter of the year. Specifically, February, May, August, and November. Each update will be named after the season (Spring Update, Fall Update, etc). We made this change so the schedule is more consitent and regular and we have more time to develop exciting new features πŸ“…!
