MacVG Version 3.0 Winter Update 🥳

As we kept adding more and more new games, MacVG became too large and we hadn't been able to deploy any new updates to MacVG for almost a full year, causing it to get outdated. This was a huge problem because we couldn't add new games, features, or fixes to MacVG. With the version 3.0 update, we've moved all the games and their files to separate repositories sorted by the games' categories. We've made 4 new repositories on GitHub: Action, Strategy, Driving, and Casual to host all the games. This effectivly cuts down the size of MacVG while still keeping all the games. This was the only way to deploy new updates to MacVG, so we're very sorry that this change reset all the progress on the games. This was the single biggest change to MacVG ever, so enjoy the new site 🔥!

Just like the new update schedule we're applying to other MacWeb apps, MacVG is also getting a new update schedule. From this update forward, MacVG is going to get an update every 3 months. This means we'll release a new update for MacVG each quarter of the year. Specifically, February, May, August, and November. Each update will be named after the season (Spring Update, Fall Update, etc). We made this change so the schedule is more consistent and regular, and we have more time to develop exciting new features 📅!

The whole point of MacVG is to make it easier to browse and explore different games. With the release of the new Genre page, you can view all the games in a genre to discover new similar games that are in the same genre! If you find a game's gameplay unique and interesting, you can click on the link on its genre, and you will see all the other games in the same genre and see a description of the genre! This also improves the organization and structure of MacVG. Easily discover new games based on your interests with the new Genre page 📁!

Other than all these huge changes to MacVG, we also added more than 50 new games for more fun! You can view them all at the New Tab, and maybe you'll find your new favorite game! Feel free to try them out and play these new games 🆕!

MacVG has come a long way. It really has, from June of 2023 to January of 2025, we've finally decided to put advertisements to the platform. We've worked on the site very hard almost everyday, spent hours adding new games and features, all for free. But with ad integration, our efforts can finally pay off. Ads help support us so we can continuosly roll out new features, ne games, and more. You will now see ads on almost every page on MacVG, but we promise they will never be intrusive or annoying. Please disable adblockers if you're using them on MacVG because this is the only MacVG can survive and keep adding new content for you guys. Thanks 💻.

We added a bunch of quality of life features to MacVG this update to make everything easier and faster. There's a new Clear Search button that appears on the search bar when you type something so you can search up a new game more easily. We also added Featured and Downloadable filters to the filter dropdown for you to browse new games! Other than these new features, there's also a new Sort Direction button next to the Sort & Filter dropdowns that sorts all the games by acsending or descending order. This makes looking up new games easier and saves you from scrolling to the bottom. With these quality of life changes, MacVG is now friendlier and easier to use than ever 🌱!

We have content improvements every single MacVG update, but this one definitely has the most changes and improvements. To name a few, we hugely optimized the code, added new game descriptions and controls and made unfinished game descriptions and game controls invisible, search is now not laggy at all and results appear instantly, and deleted and organized a bunch of files to make the site faster. We're also transitioning from an unblocked game site for school to an actual game platform for the general audience. Because of this, we removed the panic button as it's buggy and not many people actually use it. We also updated the Settings tab and its description. Other than all these, we also fixed the Recents Tab so it actually works and shows all the games you've played recently. We also added a new Clear Recents option in case the page gets too cluttered up. We also removed some broken games and updated some games' thumbnails. With these updates, we hope to provide a better experience while using MacVG 📈!
